This presentation explores how language classes can systematically develop critical thinking alongside linguistic competence. Language classes can strengthen critical thinking by linking communication with analysis, interpretation,l and evidence-based judgement. This presentation examines how linguistic theory can inform classroom approaches that develop these skills without treating critical thinking as separate from language learning. It focuses on discourse, argumentation, source evaluation, and reflective language use. The discussion considers teacher guidance, learner proficienc, and assessment, with attention to digital and machine-generated texts in academic, professional and civic communication across changing educational contexts and diverse learning environments.
